Hello,

Thank you for contacting us. We congratulate you for your decision to take your diving career to the next level.

Rescue Diver course improves the ability to prevent problems under water and in the diving environment, and provides special skills that will be required in a dive accident. More importantly, you will become a more confident and self-sufficient diver upon completing this course.

The Rescue Diver Course consists of theory and practical skill development sections. It can be completed with an intensive program of 2-3 days. Click here for a short intro video.

a) Theory - This is where you will study the digital eLearning materials, watch the Rescue Diver video and complete 5 Knowledge Reviews and a final exam. Upon confirmation of your course reservation, we will assign an eLearning code to you and you will access your course manual from the system while still at home.  It would be best if you finish the knowledge reviews, quizzes and the final exam online before coming to Kas.

b) Practical Section - you will:

  • Demonstrate skills from the Self-Rescue Review either in confined or open water.

  • Demonstrate skills from Rescue Exercises 1-10 in open water.

  • Participate in Rescue Scenarios 1 and 2 in open water.

  • Prepare an emergency assistance plan for a dive site.

b) Practical Section - Upon completion of the course, Emergency Responders will be able to:

• Perform a scene assessment.

• Use barriers appropriately.

• Phone an Emergency Medical Service number at the appropriate time within the CPR and first aid sequence.

• Quickly recognize unresponsiveness and absence of normal breathing to determine when CPR – chest compressions – is appropriate.

• Minimize the frequency and duration of interruptions to chest compressions to maximize the number of compressions delivered per minute.

• Perform effective chest compressions by allowing the chest to completely recoil after each compression.

• Open and maintain an airway using the head tilt-chin lift or pistol grip technique.

• Provide effective rescue breaths. The rescue breaths may be given using the mouth-to-mouth, mouth-to-barrier, or mouth-to-mask techniques.

• Perform complete CPR with chest compressions and rescue breathing

• Explain the importance and timeliness of defibrillation within the CPR and first aid protocol and list the two ways it can be obtained (EMS and AED provided).
